Cristiano Ronaldo handed £50,000 fine and two game suspension for knocking phone out of fan’s hand following Manchester United’s defeat at Everton

Cristiano Ronaldo will receive a £50,000 fine and a two game ban for improper and/or violent conduct at Goodison Park in April.

The FA confirmed in September the Portugal star would be charged for smashing a young Everton supporter’s phone out of his hand after Manchester United’s defeat at Goodison Park last season.

Ronaldo – who is currently at the 2022 World Cup with Portugal – was originally cautioned by Merseyside Police after the incident.

He then issued an apology on social media and invited the fan to a game at Old Trafford.

“It’s never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing,” he wrote.

“Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game.

“I would like to apologise for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair play and sportsmanship.”

In September, the Football Association then announced Ronaldo would be charged for the incident.

Now, according to The Mirror, the FA are set to announce Ronaldo will face both a £50,000 fine and a two-match ban for the incident.

The ex-Real Madrid star already made headlines this week as his contract with Manchester United was terminated seven months early by mutual consent following his explosive TalkTV interview.

Ronaldo’s punishment from the FA won’t help him seal a deal at a new Premier League club if he decides to stay in England either, given he’s facing a two game ban.

The star has been linked with both Chelsea and Newcastle, but has also been tipped for a return to former club Sporting Lisbon.
