Arsenal fan Piers Morgan has responded to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United exit, saying ‘time for phase two’.
Morgan has made no secret of his desire for the 37-year-old to join the Gunners, having gifted him a ‘Ronaldo 7’ jersey during a previous interview with the star.
Having provided Ronaldo with the platform to air his grievances about the club, Morgan’s social media post implies that he’d love nothing more than for the star’s next stop to be north London.
Manchester United confirmed that Ronaldo had left the club by mutual consent in a statement on their website on Tuesday evening.
The statement read: “Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.
“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.
“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.”
With the five-time Ballon d’Or winner now a free agent, it remains to be seen where he’ll be playing his football next, but it’s clear what Morgan wants as he looks to try and convince him to join United’s historical rivals.
